Welcome to the Dublin Buses Section, part of the Dublin Uncovered Guide to Dublin. In this section we give you some information for travelling around Dublin and Ireland via the various bus services.

Dublin Bus is the primary transport system in the city of Dublin. It offers regular services throughout the city, so while you are in Dublin, unless you have a car you'll probably be travelling on Dublin Bus. Bus Eireann is the main nationwide bus service. It offers a regular bus service to most places in the country. It is run by CIE the same company that runs Dublin Bus and again is the main method (and best value) of public transport to other parts of the country.

Train Services in Dublin and Ireland

Depending on the location, Dublin Bus starts at about 7am and the last bus departs at 11:30pm. There is a slightly reduced service on a Saturday and a half service on a Sunday. There is also a Nightlink service which operates after these hours Mon-Sat, and bank holiday Sundays.

Fares at time of print range from €1.00 to €1.90 in the city. How much you pay depends on where your going and what age you are. You can also buy daily, three day, five day, weekly, monthly and yearly tickets which offer substantial savings if you use the service regularly.

Each bus route has a number, and goes to a specific location, which should be written on the front of the bus. Nearly all service, at present, terminate in the city centre. To find out the route number or timetable for any service, you can go to their site, which is linked below, and search by route number or destination.

It is run by CIE the same company that runs Dublin Bus and again is the main method (and best value) of public transport to other parts of the country. You can go to their website, linked below, and check the timetable and services they offer and book them online. Their buses leave Dublin from Busaras on Store St in the city centre.

Sightseeing Buses are also available to the tourist, or Dubliner if they wish, to tour the city or some other more unusual ideas. Visit our city sightseeing tours section where you can view the available tours and also book on online to avoid disapointment on the day.
